A bit of Canadiana

These two things were for a swap with a fellow flickrite, Maya from Tel Aviv. She wanted some maple syrup plus something creative of mine, a mix CD of Canadian music. In return, she sent me some trinkets form Israel. Since I’m not a musician, the least I could do is design the album cover.

Here’s a close up of the Canadiana album cover.

Snow textures

This is the first snowfall after the major snowstorm, and thankfully it was very light. I snapped this shot in the south lot of Clarkson GO station while rushing for the morning train. The combination of the textures of the snow and the road caught my eye, and I just had to capture that moment.

Orchids

One of my aunts has a habit of giving my mother orchids for gifts. I’m sure this falls under the “get well” category of gifts, and I think my mother appreciated it. Now, only if we had the dedication to take care of all of them! (I’ve been guilty of “planticide”, but the orchids are still alive.)

Who’s that friendly little bug?

I collect random things, and those things generally don’t fit into any category. Hence the word random.

Every stroke…

All my life I have been fascinated by how everybody’s handwriting is so unique and how it can reveal insights into one’s character. Anyway, I was looking at the photo project, The Ones We Love, and I was in awe of the handwriting of each of the photographers. I attempted to write in a different style, but no matter what happened my writing looked like something I was completely familiar with. Perhaps our writing is like a fingerprint for we are unique.

Chirping for moolah

Erin custom made me this lovely wallet out of some recycled fabrics. Anyone who knows me knows that I love birds and bright, bold colours, so this was perfect. I love how it turned out, and hey, it’s deserving of a post du jour.

No match for a stash o’matches!

A pile of matches. You must be thinking, “This girl has a habit of photographs the same stuff with a macro view. Enough already.”

Fear not, this photo has an interesting story behind it. You see, all of these matches belong to my mom. For many years and for many unknown reasons, they were stored in a fishbowl. As for the fishbowl, it was stored on something that I can’t possibly remember. We have a ton of random stuff at home and on top of that, we have no skills when it comes to organizing them.

My dear friend, Derek decided to visit me this one particular evening. He peaked around, asking questions as to the smaller version of me (which isn’t saying much, for those of you who know me). He spotted my high school graduation class picture, which was trapped underneath something else. So I tried to retrieve it and — SMASH! Goodbye, fishbowl! It certainly didn’t help that Derek and I were in a rush to meet up with our friend Christian, and it was already late. I collected up the visible shards with an ugly oven mitt and vacuumed the rest. Then, I stuffed all the matches into the first container I could find. Thanks, plastic Longo’s bag! Now, what I really want to know is why my mom collected the matches considering she hasn’t really had a use for them. Hmmm…

Stress is green and gnarly

Stress just seems to be a constant, and somehow I manage to take it all in. Breathe in, breathe out.
