Crunchy, not creepy and crawly!

I’ve never quite understood why this is called a spider roll, especially considering that no spiders were harmed in the creation of this sushi roll.

The parental unit took me to Dai Ichi Sushi, a Japanese/Korean restaurant across the street from my house. What is so wonderful about this place is not only the good food, but the fact that they serve us patrons a variety of appetizers on the house.

Renal lobby

While Mom gets hooked up to the dialysis machines, the nurses have us wait here. They don’t want us to be too close to the equipment when setting up in order to prevent unnecessary bacteria from floating around. Usually it takes about 15 minutes to get set up, and in the meantime, I watch elderly patients wait to be called in. Sometimes I watch the TV, which is usually tuned to CP24. And sometimes I look at a copy of one of those fashion magazines on the rack…

An early, chocolatey Easter?

Dad gave these to me several weeks early. It turns out he got these from a colleague and he didn’t want them. Of course since I love chocolate they were gobbled up within minutes.

The Cheshire Janet?

Oh, what an attempt at pop art. Thanks, Photo Booth!

…my mouth is freakishly evil looking. Hmmm…

No photo, please!

I’m not really in the mood to be photographed… or to photograph anything, for that manner. Mac’s Photo Booth gives me the freedom to be lazy!

No photo, please!

Homo bridal gala… for free penis!

This sign was standing at Dundas and Highway 403, just next to the Chapters. On the other side…

Home Outfitters Bridal Gala

…was this.

So random! I wonder if it’s still there.

¡Feliz cumpleaños y felicidades!

Daniela’s birthday party was on Saturday evening, and I didn’t want to show up empty handed. I never learn: I always make cards at the last minute, and this is no exception!

I knew that I wanted the card to be bright, fun and written in Spanish (Thankfully, she taught me some quick phrases a few weeks before when I was making another card). I also knew that I wanted to use some sort of flower motif. Anyway, this tutorial gave me the solution I needed. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize that I was supposed to glue down alternating points, so I spent much time fixing the mistakes I made. I hope she likes it!

¡Feliz cumpleaños, Daniela!

At Daniela’s party, a few of us decided to play the game of Life. We didn’t remember the rules, so we made them up as we played.

Here we are, all just steps away from getting hitched (with the exception of Christian and Derek). I was the green vehicle, and when I eventually reached the red space, I chose to take advantage Canada’s same sex marriage laws — and so I "married" a nice lass! My career card indicated that I was an artist, so I decided that I’d make my living painting my wife. How convenient!

Dolce Diva

I rarely drink, so it is a treat when I order one of those fancy cocktails! Alice Fazooli’s serves this cocktail called the Dolce Diva, and it has a cranberry lemonade flavour. I especially enjoyed the red sugar on the rim of the glass.

…but it’s not Christmas!

Since Mom’s been at home on long term sick leave, she’s been spending her hours indulging in her hobbies. One of them is making stained glass decorations, and this is the beginning to what will become a wreath. It still needs to be soldered however.

Bay + Richmond

This is downtown Toronto’s rush hour traffic. I too was in a rush… for a job interview on Wednesday. Finding the place with only a limited amount of time on a bitterly cold winter afternoon when traffic is coming from every direction (okay, that’s a bit of an exaggeration) doesn’t make things easy! In any case, I made got there ten minutes early!
